Project 1: Expressive Line in Motion
“Exhaustion” in color
The purpose of this assignment was to animate an emotion using only one line. This line could split and have different widths and colors, but must not be representational. While “Exhaustion” may be reminiscent of a water droplet, it doesn’t operate within the laws of physics. It simply comes back to itself in an attempt to recuperate for one more jump, and eventually fails. However, after the meltdown, it picks itself up again because it must.

Project 2: Photo Montage
“Climber”
The purpose of this assignment was to show different moments of time all in the same photo. Taking into consideration color, focal points, and an interesting action, I Photoshopped together these pictures of my boyfriend as he climbed the trees in our neighborhood park.
Project 3: Serial Sequence
“The Art Project”
The purpose of this assignment was to use photography and sound to make a movie. We were allowed one moment of live video, and half could have a song. The story we chose also had to be in the context of a dream. This is a nightmare or an experience a stressed art student may have.
Project 4: One Minute Sculptures
“The Grind of Life is Never Ending”
Oftentimes, life feels like a never-ending task that is impossible to complete because trying to stay on the grind grinds you up. It is exhausting, and even when you think you can just ‘wrap this up real quick’ it is never that simple. On top of it, the list must be completed in a certain way. So oftentimes you can’t get to everything because the method is simply too painful. And yet, other things will inhibit you from stopping. You can’t slow down, or else your dreams and goals fail, and yet it seems impossible to keep going. I used the prop of a cheese grater as a metaphor for this feeling of injury as you try to complete tasks, in this case, homework on the computer.
